Artist Statement:
The Tree of Resilience, a lone ghost gum, stood along the shoreline at Nightcliff Foreshore for decades, shaped by wind, salt, and time. Twisted yet unbroken, it became a quiet symbol of endurance for the community who walked past it each day.
When Cyclone Fina finally brought the tree down, it marked the end of a natural landmark that had long embodied strength through adversity. This work is a tribute to that tree and to the resilience it represented.
