Artist Statement:
Inspired by the theme of Little Things, these studies are miniature trials of paintings and designs. Each smaller study reflects an experiment in an area of interest.
The red study is an experiment in colour and composition to evoke mood with the statement of “When the world burns”. The blue study is a recreation of a larger digital work that attempts to recreate the feeling of scale in a smaller space. The multi-hued study is testing the of adding colour to an art nouveau style with linocut aesthetic, a look I have long been interested in. Lastly, the silver study is a test of a planned larger portrait of the silver screen actress, Hedy Lemarr.
