AENT members can recieve publication that shows how the eight Studio Habits of Mind and four Studio Structures can be used successfully with younger students in a range of school environments. The book includes classroom examples, visual artist exemplars, templates for talking about works of art, mini-posters, and more.

We are keen at AENT to learn more about ‘Critical Thinking’ strategies by offering to members one of two related books for our first ever professional Book club event:
- Studio Thinking From the Start (Primary & Middle Years focused)
- Studio Thinking2 (Senior focused)
“The authors of Studio Thinking: The Real Benefits of Visual Art Education (2007) set out to systematically investigate what it is that visual arts teachers in arts-based high schools teach in their classes, and how these classes are organized. From there, the Studio Thinking framework was born and is now used in classrooms at all grade levels, all over the globe. In Studio Thinking 2: The Real Benefits of Visual Art Education (2013), the framework and its descriptions were expanded. To showcase how the framework has been adapted by teachers at the elementary and middle school levels, Studio Thinking from the Start: The K-8 Art Educator’s Handbook (2018) was written.” https://www.studiothinking.org/
Members who would like to participate in our ‘Studio Thinking’ Book club need to read, apply some of their reading/learning and briefly share back and discuss the ideas and processes of ‘Studio Thinking’ at an event in August 2021 during or in conjunction with the Festival of Teaching 2021.
Getting your hands on the books! All orders with AENT or independently need to be completed by Dec 18 2020!
If you are in the Darwin/Palmerston region you can select which book you would like and we will have it available for you in the New Year at our first meeting. We will be ordering these books on the 18th Dec 2020- so please nominate ASAP if you would like a copy!
If you are rural or remote – and you are going to be coming into the Festival of Teaching 2021 you can order a copy of one of the books online (Amazon AU or another vendor) by Dec 18th 2020. Send your receipt to Korin Lesh (korin.lesh@ntschools.net AENT Treasurer) and AENT will reimburse you. You must live outside of the Darwin/Palmerston region to receive this reimbursement.
