Description
Art Educators,
We are keen at AENT to learn more about โCritical Thinkingโ strategies by offering to members one of two related books for our first ever professional Book club event:
- Studio Thinking From the Start (Primary & Middle Years focused)
- Studio Thinking2 (Senior focused)
โThe authors ofย Studio Thinking: The Real Benefits of Visual Art Educationย (2007)ย set out to systematically investigate what it is that visual arts teachers in arts-based high schools teach in their classes, and how these classes are organized.ย From there, the Studio Thinking framework was born and is now used in classrooms at all grade levels, all over the globe. Inย Studio Thinking 2: The Real Benefits of Visual Art Educationย (2013), the framework and its descriptions were expanded. To showcase how the framework has been adapted by teachers at the elementary and middle school levels,ย Studio Thinking from the Start: The K-8 Art Educator’s Handbookย (2018) was written.โ https://www.studiothinking.org/
Members who would like to participate in our โStudio Thinkingโ Book club need to read, apply some of their reading/learning and briefly share back and discuss the ideas and processes of ‘Studio Thinking’ at an event in August 2021 during or in conjunction with the Festival of Teaching 2021.
