A metal stylus – of Silver, Copper or even Lead – was used for drawing by Renaissance masters such as Albrecht Dürer and Raphael before the invention of the graphite pencil. In this workshop we will experiment with different metals on painted grounds to create our own small
Renaissance masterpieces and delicate contemporary drawings with references to natural found objects.
Materials are included in the course fee.

Participants may like to bring their own reference materials: for instance a photo of a loved one (not necessarily human) to copy in the style of Raphael or Dürer and or an item suited to a delicate drawing on a pale ground….”
