Artist Statement:
‘Injecting Now’ depicts a woman named Candy who is addicted to injectable fillers, cosmetic surgery, social media and other substances.
Candy spends most of her time making sure she looks her best and is standing out from a crowd.
She sometimes forgets who she is and why she was born.
These days she only needs to make sure her iPhone is charged so she can check in with ChatGPT….. searching for answers.
She walks the streets expecting the truth, the truth that has been staring at her in the face this whole time.
She trusts what she sees, injecting ART into life.
Injecting now was inspired by a neon sign from a cosmetic injectable and skincare clinic in Fortitude Valley, a multi-dimensional place that mixes glitz and glamour with urine smelling gutters and seedy strip clubs.
