Organised by teachers for teachers, the 2017 Festival of Teaching(FoT)is the result of months of planning by both the Festival of Teaching Steering Committee and participating professional teaching associations. The FoT program provides teachers with the opportunity to engage in quality professional learning delivered by both interstate and local presenters around the theme Sharing success: shaping our future!
FoT is very pleased to introduce this year’s two keynote speakers, Professor Joseph Lo Bianco and Mr Mark Collard. Having two presenters of such high calibre will ensure that this year’s Festival of Teaching is an event not to be missed. Our thanks go out to our major sponsors, PTANT and the NT Department of Education who have each contributed $15,000 towards this year’s event. In addition, PTANT have provided invaluable project and event management.

Elspeth Hurse and Jane Tonkin are embarking on a research trip in 2017 looking at models and examples we can learn from which may be useful for the Northern Territory context.
This session will provide a platform to share our learnings and encourage those attending the workshop, to participate in an active discussion and an opportunity to share of their own experiences.
We are both interested to research practice in the field of Arts and Education to help inform creative and innovative practice in the Northern Territory.
Elspeth is particularly interested in education that caters for diversity including students with special needs, students from disadvantaged backgrounds and cultural diversity.
Jane is interested in how theatre and youth arts companies interact with schools and the blurring of arts for arts’ sake programs, and arts programs that complement and integrate with curriculum and learning.
