Artist Statement:
The Darwin Botanic Gardens playground has always held a special place in my memories, especially the times spent there with my daughter. Although she is much older now and it has been years since we visited the iconic tree house together, the space continues to inspire me. I have always loved the way nature blends seamlessly with the built structure—how architecture rises gently through the trees and invites children to explore, imagine and feel on top of the world as they climb above the canopy.
This sense of wonder and harmony between nature and design deeply informs my work. The interplay of complementary colours, especially green and pink, remains a personal favourite and echoes the vibrancy and playfulness I associate with this place. Through this artwork, I revisit those memories while celebrating the enduring magic of spaces where the natural and the constructed coexist.
