It’s based on a b/w 1980’s photograph in which Coco is horrified at the homicidal Crinoids and the villain falling into the mulcher to his doom. Oh the love and untrammeled joy of being a poverty stricken single mother of this little angel girl. ♡♡♡♡☆☆☆☆

Undercurrent. Anne McMaster
Finding enjoyment in the art practice of using recycled prints, my artwork redefines the conventional boundaries of creation and sustainability. By repurposing old etchings, printed book pages and maps, I feel I am breathing new life into forgotten images and narratives and the confines of monetary value, while celebrating the intrinsic worth of creativity and resourcefulness.
By utilizing old artworks and materials that would otherwise be discarded, I advocate for environmental consciousness. In a society driven by consumption and excess, I offer a counter-narrative rooted in sustainability, mindfulness, and the enduring power of artistic expression.

A backyard can be a precious place, somewhere to escape the pressures of busy lives, with the increased costs of living, crazy work-life balance, and stresses within the family. The local park or home garden can be a sanctuary where we can submerge ourselves in the soulful sounds, the breeze rustling through the branches, the quiet hum of traffic, and the scatter echo of bugs and wildlife within the leaf litter. Creating works that reflect images of the urban landscape is a subject area I have been fascinated with. Using discarded and found objects is important to my practice, giving new life and purpose to materials is an area I have been exploring. The typical tropical Territory louvre is iconic on its own, and here, it serves the purpose of being a canvas to support the shapes and silhouettes of the iconic Territory backyard.

The soundtrack to our current economic climate. The result of a privileged few serving themselves at the cost of the masses. Or maybe I am just like a bowerbird, attracted to Shiny Things.

Dimension: 175cm x 55cm x 1cm
Price: $ 140.00
Artist Statement:
This silk scarf is a wearable art piece with an ecological and political message.
The Gouldian Finch has become a visual icon and community symbol of protest against further encroachment and development by DHA at Binybara (Lee Point Peninsula).
Close to the city yet rich in environmental diversity, this coastal area includes marine, vine forests, grassland, freshwater and mangrove ecosystems, and importantly has been home to over 200 bird species including a significant population of the elusive and endangered Gouldian Finch.
Created using cyanotype printing, an early and relatively low toxic photographic process. The imagery is built using paper cut stencils of Gouldian Finch’s and native plants from the area specifically Cycads, and Paper Bark.

Dimension: 40cm x 50cm x 1cm
Price: $ 100.00
Artist Statement:
The Darwin overpass has an impressive form; the sweep and curve shape that guides traffic and transitions from one major road into another. This concrete structure has a power and is a wonderful symbol of Darwin infrastructure. Road works can enhance the beauty of a city, it can also ruin the look of a city, for me this overpass was money well spent.

During my long service leave I lived in Paris with my family. Money was tight for the 6 months and Paris had excellent public transportation, so we took the metro and RER everywhere. I started to save these train tickets and thought I could document my 6 months on these tickets much easier than carrying a diary. The tickets have snippets of my voyage.
Frugal Couture, the Greener ‘New Look’
Artist: Carmel Ryan
Mediums: Fabric, all natural materials drum repurposed hessian coffee bags, onion bags, table linens
Dimension: 165cm x 50cm x 50cm
Price: NFS
Artist Statement:
As a dressmaker/ designer I am continually pushing the boundaries of slow fashion and art to wear. Repurposing, up-cycling, and making do is part of my everyday nature, but it is next level exciting (& often challenging) to create with the same principals. My catch phrase is ‘Frugal Couture for a Fragile Environment’, in practice it’s a passive approach to fashion that prioritises sustainability, by reuse of mainly all natural materials.
This work titled ‘ The Greener New Look is a cheeky nod to Christian Diors trade mark Haute Couture. Rather than use the most richest of silks and satins, that only the rich can afford, I have used all repurposed materials, hessian coffee bags, worn cotton & linen napery, plastic fruit & veg net bags & other found or foraged embellishments. Money might be too tight to mention, but we can still look a million bucks when embracing a more conscious & responsible way of dressing without sacrifice to style or creativity!
