AENT 2020 Post Card Initiative

Dear AENT member current, past & future
At this time we are unsure of what our annual exhibition may look like for 2020 and if it will happen at all.
In lieu of this we invite you to be involved in a Post Card initiative designed to draw us together in a time that we are unable to. We will be providing all interested parties 2 stamped blank water colour post cards for you to create an artwork on, any media & subject matter. One will be addressed back to us at AENT and be displayed collectively at our next physical exhibition, perhaps you could write a message to your future self…. The other can be to anyone that you would like to reach out to, family or friends far away, workers who have helped us get through this time etc.
This is an opportunity for us to stay connected in a tangible way now and into the future.
If you are an NT Arts Educator and interested please register by emailing arteducatornt@gmail.com and we will have some postcards sent to your school …or available in a school office near you for collection.
Many thanks
AENT

Art Works! 2018

Celebrating 40 Years

The Arts Educators of the NT (AENT) turned 40 this year! We participate in collaborative workshops throughout the year, and our annual exhibition is an opportunity for sharing and extending of professional and artistic practice. The vibrant selection of art works from 30 AENT artists ranges in Medias and has become a local exhibition highlight. This year the event will also include a student artwork sticker exhibit from 10 participating schools. The AENT and its members support the intrinsic value of visual art education.

Mediums: Hand painted silk
Dimension: 114cm x 200cm x 2cm
Artist Statement:

The Arafura Mermaid is an image that crosses many cultures. She is the alluring female spirit in many mythologies and I have been drawn to this imagery whilst living by the mythical Arafura Sea here in the Tropics.

Rainbow Loorikeets

Artist: Mandy Rains
Mediums: Yarn, beads, fabric, wire and filler
Dimension: 32cm x 7cm x 7cm
Artist Statement:

While staying at my mum’s place, I was feeding a collection of birds in a Jacaranda tree, of which the Loorikeets were permanent residents. I would have my breakfast with them daily and study their appearance and quirky behaviours.
